I am excited to introduce Thomas Loughlin, our new Executive Director for Engineers for a Sustainable World. Not only does Loughlin possess a range of skills that are relevant to this position, but he also offers a strong cultural fit for ESW as an organization.
Loughlin will serve as the primary contact to the public for ESW and will represent the organization in all its business capacities. His responsibilities will include implementing the organization's strategic plan as well as developing fundraising strategies and mobilizing the organization's resources.
“Tom’s experience and insight with such an esteemed organization is an incredible asset to ESW as we move into our 20th year as an all-volunteer non-profit organization with a focus on sustainability and how to make a real difference in communities globally using not just product innovation but providing practical solutions that work in real-time,” says ESW Chief Operating Officer Sarah Innocenzi.
Loughlin has compiled a distinguished career after graduating from Lafayette College in Easton, PA in 1983. Prior to joining ESW, Loughlin spent 25 years at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), where he also served as its Executive Director from July 2008 to January 2018. He was President/Board Chair of the Council on Engineering & Scientific Society Executives, advisor to the digital Now Conference, and co-author of the Digital Transformation Readiness Assessment.
Loughlin combines the qualities of good executive leadership and vision with a deep understanding of ESW's mission as a nonprofit, public benefit organization. Loughlin stated, “ESW’s mission and purpose is powerful and prescient and together we can do our part to change the world. I join the team in awe of the dedication, talent and passion of the many volunteers and staff working on behalf of the mission.”
As a proven leader, Loughlin has founded and led nonprofit organizations for many years. Loughlin is a tremendous asset. ESW will gain new energy under his leadership as the organization grows.
Please join me in welcoming Thomas Loughlin to ESW!
