We put on a variety of events and programs throughout the year.
ESW-HQ runs three main programs and events throughout the year. Our Annual Conference is our biggest in-person event and brings together students and professionals from all over the country (and world!). We host smaller in-person events with Build Day, and run our own flagship competition with CommUnity.
Resilient CommUnity Design Challenge
CommUnity is a national design competition and program that unites teams of students with local organizations to forge innovative solutions to local resilience needs. Registered teams compete in a seven-month program of monthly webinars and regular mentorship.
Build Day is a collaborative project design and build initiative that brings together student engineers, technical experts, and community leaders to create local sustainable change. Engineers will work alongside community partners to identify a local environmental problem (e.g. food deserts, resilient infrastructure or disaster preparation) and implement innovative sustainable solutions.
Every year, we bring together experts from around the country in sustainability, engineering project management, leadership, and design to speak at the conference. In addition to the traditional lecture, we will have interactive workshops and thoughtful discussion to explore the fundamentals of sustainability. Come learn with us!
